Final video- Squeeze
-The changes that I have applied in this video follow the ideas that I had mentioned in my last blog, such as the sizes of the letterings, the arrangements and the movements of the letters.
-As for the sounds i have used a bouncing cartoon ball noise to complement the bounce of the letters as they hop inside the Q hoop, and then added a sliding-cartoon inspired sound effect that hets higher in pitch as the letter flows down to the bottom of the screen. For the large S, i used a deeper pitched bounce to match the heavier illusion of the wight of the letter S. This also allows the audience to establish that the S is suppose to be fat rather than just big, and this is humorous because it reminds the audience of something like a fat cat struggling to get through the cat door perhaps. When the S is struggling to get past the Q, which cannot expand any further, I decided to use the sound of rubber being scratched and rubbed to establish the idea of two surfaces rubbing against each other. The rubber/balloon type of sounds reminds the audience of the tension of the two letters as they push and resist against each other. Finally, when the S narrows down to slide past, i added an 'inhale' sound effect which is supposed to give the animation more human-like characteristics. When the 'S' slides down along with the sliding sound effect, the 'Q' expands and retracts making pumping toy noises that are achieved through squeezing, for example squeezing a rubber duck. This further emphasizes the word squeeze
Self Evaluation:
Positives: I think that the film I have made fits the criteria and portrays the essence of the word squeeze effectively, and in a way that the audience can clearly understand and relate to the motion and the ideas in this film. I have given the letters and the word some character by using cartoon-like influences which work well with the use of the word. The idea is simple and not too complex or too boring.
negatives:the quality of the video could be improved more by further exploring further alternatives on how to form shapes within the letters and ways to make the transitions and movements smoother. I could've also looked at different ways that the word squeeze can be represented by the letters in the word, for example the letter e could squeeze the rest of the letters, or I could use a different imagery such as a twisting action to squeeze out letters (like squeezing lemons).
Improvements: some improvements could be to make the paths/motion tweens more smother so that the quality of the film looks more professional. I could've explored looking at more expressive fonts or even more cartoon-like fonts to make the personality of the animation stand out.
I could explore more arrangements, more ideas for the word squeeze and different ways to present the words. I could've explored the flash software more in order to discover different techniques that could allow me to find new or different ways of manipulating or creating my animation
